Anas Shargawi

Engineering Success: Lessons from A Remarkable Career

On a crisp morning in Wichita, Kansas, Anas Shargawi stood by the runway, watching a plane soar into the clear blue sky. Engines roared, tools clattered, and the smell of motor oil filled the air. It was there, among greasy parts and mechanical marvels, that Anas Shargawi’s fascination with machines first ignited.

As a child, he didn’t just play with toys—he took them apart, curious to understand how they worked. His parents often found him covered in oil and grease, a broad grin on his face as he tinkered with anything he could get his hands on. From fixing his old bicycle to understanding the inner workings of lawnmowers, Anas's passion for engineering grew with each project.

First, it wasn't just about fixing things. It was about making them better. Faster. More efficient.

His curiosity grew even more when he first started classes at Lansing Community College. Studying Airframe and Power Plant Aviation Maintenance opened up a world of exciting opportunities. The sounds of tools and airplane engines felt familiar and inspiring.

Publications

Anas Shargawi has made significant contributions to engineering and technology. His work covers materials science, simulation modeling, and wearable technology. We explored some of his important publications featured in his Google Scholar profile.

Energy Absorbency and Impact Resistance of D3O® Materials under Dynamic Impact Loadings

In this study, Anas explored how D3O® materials behave when struck suddenly. D3O® is known for its ability to absorb shocks. He tested the material under fast impacts to see how well it could protect against force. This research helps in designing better protective gear.

Experimental Investigation of Energy Absorbency and Dampening Characteristics of D3O® Material during Low Velocity Static Impacts

Here, Anas examined how D3O® responds to slower, steady impacts. He measured how much energy the material could absorb and how it reduced vibrations. This information is useful for creating products that need to handle repeated stresses without failing.

Mechanical Testing and Evaluation of D3O® Material for Adequacy of an Ergonomic Intervention for Vibration Transmission Reduction in Aircraft Manufacturing

In this work, Anas focused on reducing vibrations in aircraft manufacturing. Workers often use tools that cause vibrations, which can lead to discomfort or injury. He tested D3O® materials to see if they could lessen these vibrations. His findings could improve worker safety and comfort.

A Study of Boeing 747 “C” Check Maintenance Processes Using Simulation

Anas used simulation to study the maintenance processes of the Boeing 747 airplane. The "C" check is a detailed inspection that takes time and resources. By modeling the process, he identified ways to make it more efficient. This helps airlines save time and reduce costs.

Optimizing Engine Maintenance Processes through Arena Simulation Modeling

In this publication, Anas applied Arena simulation software to engine maintenance. He looked for the best ways to schedule and perform maintenance tasks. His work helps in reducing downtime and improving productivity in engine servicing.

Validity and Reliability of Step Count Measures Using a Wrist-Worn Activity Tracker during Treadmill Walking

Anas shifted his focus to wearable technology in this study. He tested how accurate wrist-worn activity trackers are at counting steps. By comparing them during treadmill walking, he assessed their reliability. This research benefits anyone who uses these devices to monitor their fitness.

Concurrent Validity of Heart Rate Measures Using a Wrist-Worn Activity Tracker during Treadmill Walking

Continuing with wearable tech, Anas evaluated how well these devices measure heart rate. Accurate heart rate data is important for tracking exercise intensity. His study compared the trackers to standard heart rate monitors. The results help users trust the data from their wearable devices.
