The University of Cincinnati College of Medical Center is one of the nation’s most prestigious healthcare institutions. Being one of the nation’s top 25 public research universities, we are driven by innovation while keeping people’s health at the forefront.

Our faculties come from diverse walks of life with a wide range of specialties and expertise. These experts are passionate about solving the most complex medical cases while ensuring that no one is devoid of healthcare.

These brilliant minds embody our values of respect, integrity, inclusion, discovery, and most importantly, empathy. With a patient and family-first approach, we strive and envision a brighter tomorrow where healthcare is accessible to everyone irrespective of who they are or where they come from.

While various initiatives and efforts have been taken to accomplish this mission, one significant venture was the C-STARS.

About C-STARS

C-STARS is a joint program with the Air Force that brings some of the best trauma and critical surgeons and works alongside our medical professionals.

Being the third program of its kind in the country, the training program has about 14 classes per year, where about 12 to 15 Air Force health care professionals take you through critical care simulations and a series of other field exercises.

It is a program where these veterans get a chance to work alongside civilian professionals, while the civilians also get to learn from the veterans their ways and absorb their expertise over cases and subjects.

An integral part of this C-STARS program is Dr. Jay Johannigman, a trauma, and critical care surgeon.
